Worked pretty well for me.
This clear gloss works pretty well. I didn't mix it with any other shade, I just used it straight from the tube and mixed it with a 10 volume developer in a ration of one part clear to one part developer. I left it on for the required 20 minutes and it did provide some shine to my blond highlighted hair. Blond hair doesn't shine like darker shades and although my hair is in excellent condition, I could have used more shine so I thought I'd give this gloss from Sally's a try. It's easy enough to use, just apply to dry unwashed hair and comb through to ensure even coverage. One tube was enough for my slightly below shoulder length medium thickness hair. I suppose this gloss will last for 4-6 weeks. I do use a sulfate free shampoo which will help the gloss last as long as possible. However, I expected more of a difference considering this gloss required a 10 volume developer. Frankly, I get more shine with Sebastian Cellophanes in the clear formula. Cellophanes doesn't require developer and has no ammonia so it's great for those who are sensitive to hair color. There are a range of shade that can be used on their own or mixed with clear for a sheerer effect. I'm not a fan of the brands Sally's sells but I figured nothing could go horribly wrong with the Zotos clear formula. But the shine is just so so. Granted it will likely last longer than Cellophanes but it's not as high wattage. Plus, Cellophanes is a conditioning treatment, more like a mask, so my hair is always in great shape afterward. I think this Zotos product is gentle enough and it didn't change my color at all. It simply didn't add the same level of shine as Cellophanes, which I purchased on Amazon. There are about 5 or 6 treatments in the Cellophanes tube, which was $17. You have to use it with heat for 20 minutes and then let it cool for at least 5, which locks in the shine. As long as you follow directions, you will get brilliant shine with Cellophanes. It may last half the time as Zotos but frankly I would rather do the treatment more often and have more shine in the end. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissatisfied with Zotos clear formula. I think it's pretty good. But at $9 a pop, it's more expensive than Cellophanes, although it does go on sale frequently. I'm sure it's great if used to dilute the shades in this demi permanent line. But actually, I think the shine from Cellophanes is more intense so that's what I'll be using from now on. I may decide to use one of the blond colors for a little added refreshment of my color. I would mix 2/3 clear with 1/3 of one of the colors, maybe Honeycomb Blond. I still want that high wattage shine so I would definitely use more clear. Overall, this Zotos product is decent and if you use this line and are comfortable with it, this may be a better choice for you. Just be sure you use a sulfate free shampoo, which is what all color treated hair needs to stay fresh and bright longer. I do recommend this product, I just happen to like Cellophanes better.
